A Message from David Wiley
Welcome to your Roanoke Symphony Orchestra's 2008-2009 season, The Power of Music. Music is truly a living art form, expressed with creativity, thoughtfulness, breath and motion. Music speaks for us and to us, where words alone cannot. Music can overcome adversity and sound a voice of hope - it can mourn, and it can celebrate. As music makers and music listeners, the landscape before us is ever-changing and alive with the power of music!

Welcome Inside The Music.

You'll be happy to read that our 2008-2009 subscription prices are once again unchanged for new subscribers - the same as last year! I encourage you to explore all of the great programs in our Masterworks Series and Picnic @ the Pops Series. For the best deal, choose Symphony-to-the-Max and receive tickets to all six Masterworks programs, all three Pops, and Handel's Messiah. In the spring of 2009, we are pleased to present a special new concert entitled "Behind the Silence." You won't want to miss this added event - an inspiring program of truly powerful music! Thanks to you, the RSO continues to be a great success story.

All of us at the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra and Chorus hope you will join us for as many programs as you can. We know you'll be glad you did. See you soon at the RSO!

Daivd Wiley, Music Director & Conductor
