Scott Bartlett is Principal Bassoonist of the Roanoke Symphony and an active performer/collaborator based in West Virginia frequently performing with West Virginia Symphony Orchestra and Wheeling Symphony Orchestra. While working as a freelancer in Michigan, he was a former founding member of the new music group the Khemia Ensemble and a passionate advocate of new music. He continues to enthusiastically promote the composition of new works for the bassoon as a chamber instrument, frequently premiering works on a national and international stage.  He has worked with such award-winning composers as Roger Zare, Jeremy Crosmer, Bret Bohman, Carolina Heredia, and has premiered and recorded William Horne’s Sonata for bassoon and piano. He has performed at various festivals such as the New York City Electronic Acoustic Music Festival at the Abrons Playhouse, NACUSA National Conference, the Biennial New Music Festival at the National University of Cordoba, and the International Double Reed Society Conference.

His primary teachers include Lynn Hileman, Jeffrey Lyman, and Peter Kolkay.
