Roanoke, Virginia – The Roanoke Symphony Orchestra performs Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. in Roanoke’s Elmwood Park. The concert, “Symphonic Pops: From Classics To The Silver Screen” is part of the City of Roanoke’s “Parks & Arts” series. The event marks the RSO’s third appearance in Elmwood Park since the new amphitheater’s opening in 2013. The event is free and open to the public. RSO sponsors for the event include lead sponsor The Branch Group, as well as Balzer & Associates, City of Roanoke Arts Commission, Downtown Roanoke Inc., For Alison Foundation, Hist:Re Partners LLC, and Kroger Mid-Atlantic.

Symphonic Pops

The concert is great for all ages with favorites by Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Aaron Copland, John Williams and more in a special Elmwood Park program of Symphonic Pops. The program includes God Bless America, Fanfare for the Common Man, music from Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, plus a special Armed Forces Salute. The program lasts approximately 70 minutes.
